Damning Obama For A Friend Of A Friend?

Confronting Obama with a ‘Farrakhan test’

Steve Benen quotes Richard Cohen,

For most Americans, though, Farrakhan epitomizes racism, particularly in the form of anti-Semitism….

Actually, for most black Americans and most white Americans he probably epitomizes racism, as does his religion, in the form of, well, plain racism, directed especially and particularly at whites.

The difference is that, while whites universally deplore his racism, many blacks have much sympathy for it, and many more are willing to praise the Nation for its good works.

That tends to strike whites as something like, maybe, praising the KKK for sponsoring soup kitchens for down and out white racists. You get the idea.

Anyway, my point is that, for the Nation, anti-Semitism is just a special case of the broader hate.

But ever since Jesse Jackson called New York “Hymietown” the acceptable complaint has been, not that Farrakhan hates white people (Hey, who could blame him for that?) but that he hates Jews.

Still, Mr. Cohen’s point is well taken. I suspect if Hillary’s pastor had a daughter editing the church paper, and the paper made favorable mention of David Duke, we would never hear the end of it.

We have been witnessing no end of Clinton bashing over race for several weeks, now.

Maybe, for this, Obama does owe an explanation.

Not for nothing has Hillary complained of a double standard.

And not for nothing have others complained Obama has become a media darling, the anointed one of America.
